CSR Hungary Summit Conference, Good brand, sustainable brand: OECD Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct

The CSR Hungary Summit Conference was organized this May again, with the motto of „The good brand is the sustainable brand” by the CSR Hungary. Ms. Gabriella Tölgyes, CSR expert was the presenter on the side of the Ministry of Economic Development, who gave a comprehensive and detailed, but also very understandable presentation about the history of the OECD, the structure and the proper application of the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (hereinafter: Guidelines) as well as about the main changes of Guidelines from the recent past and the actual problems and questions of the topic.

Responsible business conduct from the perspective of the OECD and the work of the OECD on taxation (Pillars I-II., with particular regard to the global minimum tax)

In May, Mr. László Balogh (Deputy State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance, also the chairman of the Hungarian National Contact Point) held a presentation about the “Responsible Business Conduct from the OECD’s point of view” at the Business Breakfast which was organized by the CSR Hungary. The presentation included many topics, just as the actions of the OECD, the role of the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (hereinafter: Guidelines), the OECD Pillar One and Pillar Two, and lastly the targets and the criteria system of the ESG.

Possibility of a far-reaching cooperation: meeting of the representatives of the Hungarian and Bulgarian National Contact Points

Representatives of the Hungarian and the Bulgarian NCPs had the opportunity for a bilateral meeting at the 'Small Business, Big deal' conference organized by BIAC (OECD Business and Industry Advisory Committee), representing more than 7 million companies, and by the National Association of Hungarian Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) held in Budapest between 21-23 March, 2022.

Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Budapest

OECD Secretary-General Mr. Mathias Cormann paid a one-and-a-half-day working visit to Budapest on 29-30 November 2021. On the occasion of providing a speech at the opening panel of Planet Budapest 2021 Sustainability World Summit and of the 25th anniversary of Hungary's accession, the Secretary-General met with President Mr. János Áder, Prime Minister Mr. Viktor Orbán, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Mihály Varga and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. Péter Szijjártó.

OECD-FAO Guidance for Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains

The guidance has been developed by the OECD and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to help enterprises in applying standards of responsible business conduct along their agricultural supply chains to reduce adverse effects and contribute to sustainable development.

In October 2017, one of the keynote speakers of the 12th annual conference held by CSR Hungary – the organization promoting corporate social responsibility in Hungary – was Mr. László Balogh, Deputy State Secretary for Financial Policy Affairs and head of the Hungarian National Contact Point, who gave his presentation on ‘The OECD and Responsible Business Conduct: constraint, interest or illusion?’.
